All Outta Gum

All Outta Gum is a top-down arena brawler for up to four players, fought 1v1 or 2v2 in a pirate keep, an electric dome, and a temple of fire. Pick one of eight fighters and step in with a basic attack and two signature abilities, because the real fight is over the chests that keep appearing around the arena. Smash one open and it spills out one of 22 weapons, from a humble Pistol to a Railgun that charges up a screen-piercing slug. Nothing lasts, though: every weapon wears down while you hold it and faster every time you use it, so the upper hand never stays in one place for long. Play King of the Hill, Team Deathmatch, or a three-life Stocks Match online, or grab a controller and play on the couch with bots filling the empty seats.

Who built it

Two-person team with Ben Smith. I built the AI opponents, the game modes, most of the online lobby and match flow, the chest and weapon systems, and three of the eight fighters. Ben built the core architecture, networked movement with client-side prediction, and the status-effect system.

Couch play and bot matches work from a plain Windows download. Online play connects straight to the host's IP address on port 7777 over Unity Transport, so playing across the internet needs port forwarding or a relay service, and a browser build would also need a WebSocket transport behind that relay. It is a team repo, so agree the release with Ben first.
